"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. " | Socrates

One of the best most challenging journeys you may ever go on is seeing what your body is able to do. There might be a chance you are in shape, completely out of shape, or just hoping to lose some weight. Nevertheless, developing a body that you can be proud, one that is healthy, and allows you to truly adore every possible last piece of it actually is a wonderful journey to undertake.

So what is the real secret behind making an enduring change with your body?

Consistency and commitment.

There's nothing else like coming to the table every single day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you may become deeply discouraged and deterred. Instead, understand you are contesting with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But every time you do, you should come back with a dedication to achieving something that you really wanted. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field every day. Without it, you'll suffer the the inescapable and bad reality of many new years resolutioners who give up each single year on creating the body of their dreams because they do not have the ability to keep on coming back repeatedly timeand again.

Commitment also comes to mind, though not the commitment that you are probably thinking of. In our world, we are fed this strong idea that everything must happen at the moment and if it does not actually happen right now, it is not worthwhile. Your body is going to drastically change acrossthe years, so why not make a lifelong commitment to remaining healthy? Is that a marketable and sellable idea? Not really. But is it something that might really change the course of your life? Totally.

When you make a commitment to keeping your body healthy throughout your whole life, you may ultimately reach whatever goal you wish. It is about seeing the overall picture than merely the few months in front of you until summer. It's about developing something you can be pleased with for ever and ever. For me, that concept changed my life as I was able to finally hit my fitness goals after 12 years of wrestling with my self-image and food issues. But as soon as I shifted my view of what I was trying to accomplish, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it might work for you. Make a lifelong and relentless commitment to keeping healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term as well.

Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all facets of your life, and things will change significantly.
